THE BIBLE: Matthew 1:18-23; Isaiah 7:4; 53:3-5; Luke 19:10
God engineered a plan from the very beginning to rescue us from our sins and ourselves. His plan included him coming down out of heaven in the form of a baby to do it.
Jesus came to seek and save the loss (Luke 19:10). The only way for Jesus to save us was to go to the cross. Jesus was born to die so that we could be saved.
Talk about a plot twist! The savior of the world came as a baby, not as a warrior, but as a baby for us.
As you go through the season of Christmas always remember and celebrate that Christmas is truly about the undeserved gift of Jesus. Let's celebrate that our God loved us so much that he sent his son. As you go through this week, please continue this discussion with these ideas:
1) Do you think the Christmas story has any impact on your life? Explain.
2) Read Isaiah 53:6. In what ways have you personally gone astray?
3) How does Jesus find and save us from being lost?
4) What is one thing you can do this week to respond to God's undeserved gift-the gift of Jesus?
